Photographer shows incredible Landscapes from above

Sometimes, when everything feels all a little too much of the same, all it takes is changing the perspective. You could say that about the work of the talented photographer Dimitar Karanikolov, who takes incredible bird's-eye photographs.

“I’m trained as an architect and I specialise in doing 3D architectural visualisations in my studio, which I like to call 'photographs of future buildings'. The same principles of light, colour, and composition apply as in classic photography when creating these virtual photorealistic views. At first, I started doing cityscape and architectural photography for my work, and then I moved to travel/aerial photography which became my second profession lately. I’ve been traveling on specialised photo expeditions in recent years, trying to capture authentic environments and portraits, and unusual perspectives with my drone.”

“I love the top-down viewpoint that can only be captured with a drone (or satellite), it is kind of an architectural 'plan' view and completely different from the human perspective,” Dimitar explains. “Ordinary objects and scenarios look much more exciting from above. I’d like to show that drone photography is not only good for panoramic landscape views taken from high altitude but also for close-up pictures of people, which give a sense of scale to the abstract natural patterns."
